The people who work at Port-to-Port Consulting are hard working folks. We like it that way. Many of our Indianapolis computer consulting customers make comments like, "I don't know how you can know all of that." Sometimes we take that as the compliment it was meant to be. Other times, the statement embarrasses us. You see, what we do isn't hard. I know we're supposed to make everyone think that the work of a computer outsourcing company is amazingly difficult -- not to far from brain surgery and rocket science. In truth, it's not. You could easily do for yourself the things that we do for you. The only differences are that it will take you a lot longer, and, more importantly, you might not ever know if you got it right.

That's the secret. The best story I've ever heard to explain it comes from Mark McCormack, the legendary sports manager behind IMG. He tells of visiting with a prospective customer and explaining what he does. The prospect stops him and says, "It sounds to me like you want me to pay you a lot of money to make three phone calls."

McCormack reaches into his pocket, pulls out three quarters, and slaps them on the desk. "You make those calls," he says as he walks out the door.
